Inspired by color
Maria Etkind is a Panamanian graphic designer, fine artist, and New Orleans based milliner.
After living in New Orleans for 13 years, in 2014 she moved to The Hague, The Netherlands where she discovered the art of millinery. Upon taking her first course in hat making, a new passion was born. In the Winter of 2017 she moved back to New Orleans, Louisiana to open her own couture millinery studio.
Maria Etkind’s hats are fun and have a European aesthetic. Her headpieces are modern and exciting to wear. She makes all her hats by hand and sources her materials from all over the world. Her eye for design, color, art, fine textiles, beading and embroidery details show in her millinery work.
Maria has participated in many private millinery workshop and Master Classes in London, The Netherlands, as well as the U.S. She continues to study millinery techniques everyday.
She currently creates custom made hats to order for a wide range of customers. She is available for private consultations. Her hats are available for purchase at Century Girl Vintage in New Orleans.
